2002 Chiarello Vineyards Giana Zinfandel

$28.00 -- Concentrated estate grown Napa Valley Zinfandel

2002 Chiarello Vineyards Giana Zinfandel

Like my teenage daugher for whom this wine is named, I'm so proud of the direction the 2002 Giana took. It continues the tradition of super concentrated, unctuously thick Zinfandel from Chiarello Family Vineyards. We feel the 02 is the best Giana to date with deep plum, florest floor nose with the slightest hints of lemon/lime zest. A great combination with the earthy simplicity of my Wild Mushroom Panzanella, a delicious Italian "bread salad" that is equally as good as a side dish or lite supper.

The 2002 Giana Zinfandel palate is pure maple syrup and caramelized brown sugar. The cola note from 2000 is back again, adding an extra element of richness in 2002. The finish goes on for a full minute turning toward ripe raspberries, cranberries and blackberry tones with a touch of baking spice to add some texture to the end.
