Econo-Drain |

For
efficient pond management and healthier streams, bottom, rather than top,
water overflow from ponds is recommended. The reasons, simply
stated, are below:

Bottom
drainage results in longer retention of natural and commercial
fertilizers in the top water of the pond.
Bottom drainage aids in maintaining more stable water
temperature, in either warm or cold water ponds, which lengthens
the growing period of fish.
Toxic chemical compounds, such as hydrogen sulfide,
ammonia, and carbon dioxide accumulate on pond bottoms and should
be held to a minimum in order to prevent pollution and heavy fish
"die-off" and pond turnover.
Continuous bottom drainage prevents sudden releases of
large accumulations of toxic chemicals, thereby preventing
possible serious pollution of water down stream.
Bottom drainage minimizes the buildup of silt and other
debris on the pond bottom.
